Service Trip to Swan Lake Camp
Swan Lake Christian Camp is located in Viborg, SD, a 9 hour 39 minute, 397.6 mile trip from Church. The youth group will be leaving for the service trip on Monday, July 5th, 09:00 AM and will be returning Saturday Evening, July 10th. Swan Lake Christian Camp is a member of the Mennonite Camping Association.
We will be painting the outside of the dining hall and transporting field rock for use in constructing rock walls.
Campers that week will be 6th graders and we will interact with them on a limited basis.
Some of our other activities will be to attend a talk by Edie Tschetter from MCC Northern Tier staff, Freeman, SD. Edie will speak on South Dakota's native Lakota people. South Dakota has nine Indian Reservations within it's borders and one of the largest populations of Native Americans.
We are also planning to visit a Hutterite Colony on one of the free evenings. On Thursday we plan to take a fun break and go to Wild West Water Park in Sioux Falls.
